Fire Damages Edina Office Building on Ohms Lane
Edina, Minn., Dec. 1, 2016 – The Edina Fire Department was called to the 7300 block of Ohms Lane at
6:58 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, after receiving multiple 911 calls for an office building on fire.
Fire crews arrived to discover a large six-story commercial building experiencing issues from an electrical
malfunction. Firefighters, with assistance from Xcel Energy, were able to quickly gain control of the fire. There
were no injuries. However, there was damage to the building.
“Electrical malfunctions can easily cause fires,” said Fire Marshal Jeff Siems. “If you hear arcing, clicking sounds
behind an outlet or see smoke, get out of the building immediately and call 911.”
The Edina Fire Department received mutual aid from the Bloomington and Richfield fire departments.
