Edina Outdoor Ice Skating Rinks to Open Dec. 16
Edina, Minn., Dec 14, 2016 – Edina ice skating rinks will open 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 for the start
of the season, weather permitting.
The 12 rinks are located at Arden Park, Cornelia School Park, Countryside Park, Creek Valley Park,
Highlands Park, Lewis Park, Normandale Park, Pamela Park, Strachauer Park, Todd Park, Walnut
Ridge Park and Weber Park. All locations feature warming houses and rinks for hockey and general
skating.
The regular season hours are 4 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturdays
and 1 to 8 p.m. Sundays. Between Dec. 24 and Jan. 6, weekday hours are extended from noon to
9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, the rinks will be open
from noon to 4 p.m. On New Year’s Day, the rinks will be open from noon to 9:30 p.m. The rinks
are closed Christmas Day.
Centennial Lakes Park is closed due to thin ice conditions. Staff hopes to have it open by Christmas.
Rinks are scheduled to remain open until end of the day Feb. 28, weather permitting. The rinks will
close when the temperatures reach negative 10 degrees Fahrenheit or if the wind chill reaches
negative 15 degrees Fahrenheit or lower.
