Provide Input On Guiding Principles, Share Your Vision For
44th & France
Edina, Minn., July 27, 2017 – Community members are invited to attend a Monday, Aug. 14, workshop to
discuss the guiding principles and preliminary design concepts for the 44th & France area. Light refreshments
will be provided at the workshop, scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. at Edina Morningside Community Church, 4201
Morningside Road. Participants should use the side entrance.
Since the first community workshop in June, the draft guiding principles and preliminary design concepts were
developed, based on community input and supporting technical analyses.
“We had great attendance and participation at the first community meeting for this project, and are excited to
once again roll up our sleeves with members of the community to help shape the vision for the 44th & France
area,” said Transportation Planner Mark Nolan, who’s also the project manager for this effort.
Participants will:
Provide input on the guiding principles for the future of the study area.
Participate in a small group activity to review and evaluate draft design concepts.
The small area plan will provide guidance for important issues like redevelopment, streetscape and aesthetic
treatment, vehicle parking and pedestrian and bicycle facilities for the 44th & France area. The small area plan
is part of the larger city-wide Comprehensive Plan update. The workshop is being led by the 44th & France
Small Area Plan Work Group.
