City Seeks Online Comments for Braemar Park Improvements
Edina, Minn., July 21, 2017 – The City’s next online discussion is now available at SpeakUpEdina.org. The
discussion, which focuses on Braemar Park, will be available until Aug. 30.
The City has started the planning process for what features should go in Braemar Park, already home to
Braemar Golf Course, Braemar Arena, Braemar Field and Courtney Fields. Park elements such as picnic
shelters, playgrounds, fields, courts, walking trails and mountain bike and Nordic skiing trails could go in the
remaining areas of the 500-acre park to create opportunities for year-round use. In addition, safe connections
to the surrounding neighborhoods and environmental restoration should be part of the plan.
In this discussion, the City asks residents:
What types of park amenities would you like to see added to create year-round recreational
opportunities at Braemar Park?
Would you like to see mountain bike trails added to the park? Why or why not?
Would you use a walking trail system that looped around the outskirts of Braemar Golf Course? Why
or why not?
How should the City improve access to the park and connect it with the surrounding neighborhoods?
The feedback from this discussion will be compiled and presented to the City Council on Sept. 19.
In July, the City gathered feedback on street repairs. The City asked residents if they had received advance
notification of any street reconstruction in their neighborhood and by what method; their preferred method
for notification and how far in advance they’d like the information; if they had ever notified the city of a
pothole or other needed street repair and how that process went; and how should the City should prioritize
street maintenance and street reconstruction projects. The feedback from this discussion will be compiled
and presented to the City Council Aug. 15.
