WITH WOODDALE PARK DEVELOPMENT GROUP
A discussion was held in regard to the Wooddale Park plan.
The plan that was used was the Alternative E of the original
BRW plan. The concensus of the overall group was that the
park was generally acceptable to all parties.
Some comments that were discussed were as follows:
- There was consideration that some type of
ornamental lights should be installed along the
sidewalk on the South and also some type of lighting
between the connection of Wooddale Park and Williams
Park. This area seems to be a trouble spot now and
should be considered to be opened up more.
- Regarding the entrance to the parking lot at
Wooddale - it was thought there is quite a bit of
traffic which might cause some problems with people
coming from the north around the curve.
- It was suggested that a cross walk or some benches
designation should be put across and on the west side
of Wooddale Ave. It seems that this is the location
that the kids always walked across Wooddale when going
to school.
- It was discussed that we consider putting benches
along the path and totally in the park so that there
are some passive areas for people walking through the
park. There were also some comments made on whether we
really needed the path on the extreme west side of the
park. Conversation centered around the crosswalk
underneath 50th Street and just exactly how it would be
done.
- There was discussion in regard to selling bricks
from the school and using this money for development
purposes of the park. They felt that anything that was
done with the selling of any portion of the building,
the proceeds should be funneled back into the
development of Wooddale Park.
- Discussion was centered on 42 spaces for the parking
lot for Wooddale Park and that if there was that many
parking places that the parking in Utley Park should
not be expanded to more than 39 spaces which is
approximately what the parking lot is today.
- Also discussed was whether anything was going to be
done in the future with Utley Park, if so this group
would also like to be made aware of what is happening
and of what the development plans are so they can be
involved in planning of that park also.
- The location of the playground equipment was
satisfactory and it was felt that we should proceed
immediately to work on the playground area this year,
especially if the old equipment was to be removed. A
proposal was shown to the group in regard to the type
of equipment that would be put into the park, which is
similar to the equipment that is now being installed in
the rest of the parks.
- There was discussion also about the condition of the
wall and the fence on the North side. Bob Kojetin will
check to see if this is part of the park or alley.
The following people were in attendance:
Marilyn Wooldridge
Bev Casserly
Joe Price
Bob Kojetin
Bob Christianson
Joan Cornwell
Jane Fuegner
The next meeting is schedule for Tuesday, June 4 at 7:00
p.m. at Edina City Hall, Council Chambers. It was suggested
that we contact all of the other neighbors who are adjacent
to the park by letter and the other members that were at
this meeting to have an informal conferences with other
neighbors in the area so as to get as much feedback as
possible.
