Your letter was read at the Park Board Meeting on July 9, 1985. It was the unanimous decision of the Park Board to continue with the policy we have established for the past 21 years. Our purpose is to provide parks and recreation for the people who live in Edina. We believe that taxes are included in the high cost or rent in Edina and those paying it should enjoy the priviledges. The meeting was attended by Cornwells, Magnusons Bennetts, Kluesners, Prices, O'Learys, Duhaimes, Howards, Addingtons, Fuegners, Paulus, Marilyn Wooldridge and Bob Kojetin. Bob Kojetin brought up the dates to keep in mind things that are going to be happening in the next couple of months in Wooddale School so everyone would be aware of certain activities. June 26 and 27 will be moving dates of all historical and other items in the building. Those items will be moved and stored in other city facilities. On July 2, contractors will be walking through the facility to take bids on the project. July 10 - bids will be opened for demolition of the building. July 13 will be the Edinamite celebration. The following week the facility will be open for picking up and selling of artifacts in the building which will be run by the historical society. July 24 is the possible day that demolition work will start on the building. Again the neighbors were brought up to date on the original plan of the park and discussion followed with the new adjacent neighbors. There was discussion about the wall that is on the west side of the park where the kids practice kicking soccer balls. Maybe more trees and bushes could be used as a burm along the west side of the park. A discussion was held on a possible burm along 50th Street if the fence is removed so that balls and other things from the playground area would not go onto 50th Street. Because of the soccer field running north and south the balls could go into 50th street. Lighting again was discussed for the park and it was the concensus that it would be best if the same type of lighting as is in the Country Club area now could be used. The topic was brought up again on Wooddale and Country Club Road and also a stop sign on Browndale and Country Club Road. Bob Kojetin suggested that this should be recommended to the Traffic Safety Committee for study. Discussion was held on the different types of barriers that was along Williams Park and the creek area and if at all possible some common type of railings to match the Williams Park and the bridge area should be used. Bob Kojetin indicated that the Wooddale study had not included this in there study but he would look into it in the overall development of the Wooddale area. It was suggested that maybe the old bridge railings that are now being stored could be used in the area. The parking lot issue was raised agin and it was the concensus that if the 42 spaces were allowed at the Wooddale Park site that Utley Park should not be expanded from the 39 proposed spaces to the 58 proposed spaces and if Utley Park is to receive 58 spaces then the Wooddale Park should only have a maximum of 25 spaces. This was a strong recommendation by all people in attendance. It was also noted that the neighborhood should also be informed is activity or construction in the future is being proposed for Utley Park even though it is not being considered at this time. Another suggestion was centered around the type of playground equipment and it was suggested the maybe the tiny tot equipment should be in one location and the other playground equipment be installed in another area so the older kids do not sit and monopolize the tiny tot equipment. On the whole it was a good meeting and all who attended agreed that the plan was an acceptable plan, with minor suggested changes.
