CAMPBELL President JAMES R. HAND Vice President WILLIAM J. WIWAMS, JR. Vice President WILLIAM C. BATTLE Secretary ARTHUR W. RICE, JR. Treasurer JOHN C. BATTY General Counsel HARRY W. EASTERLY, JR. Senior Executive Director As the USGA Women's Public Links Committee-'!oman for 111innesota, it's my responsibility to organize the qualifying round for the USGA Women's Amateur Public Links Championship. I would life to hold this round at Braemar Golf Course next year on Wednesday;, Jane 1st, if possible. This is a one day event and I expect in the neighborhood of 80 to 90 entrants. Entries close I•Zay 11 and I'li wave an exact number at that time. I would like the tee times to begin: at 7:30 a.m. on the 1st tee. Braemar would require no special preparation and I would take care of the mechanics of the qualifying suc-. as pairings, registration, rulings and scoring. I would greatly appreciate it if you consider waiving, greens fees for this round of golf. First, most of our best players are younp students who need every incentive (or "breai:") to help them afford the privilege of trying out for competition on the national level. Secondly, it would encourage more players to enter. This is very important, be— cause $10 out of each entry fee will go to:•=a_rd the travel expenses of those players who advance to the National Cha-pionship in Honolulu, Hawaii later that month. The cost of getting to Hawaii is very high, so I'm trying to raise as much money as possible to ease the burden on the players from our area who will be going. Without the promise of financial assistance, many of our best young players would be unable to go, I'm sure. Naturally, if it just isn't feasible to allow us the courtesy of waiving the greens fees, I'll certainly understand. I'll be calling you in the latter part of October to confirm our arrangements. Sincerely, Cora JaYfe Blanchard PLEASE REPLY DIRECT TO WRITER'S ADDRESS
