Good Morning,
The large part of our work session on Wednesday is dedicated to the discussion of
legislative matters with our state legislative delegation. That part of the work session starts
at 6pm. From 5:30-6pm, we are slated to have a discussion about the feasibility and
advisability of assigning formal intergovernmental liaison assignments to City Council
Members. Here is a list of organizations that may benefit from possible formal liaison
assignments:
Hennepin County
City of Bloomington
City of Richfield
City of Minneapolis
City of Minnetonka
City of Hopkins
City of Eden Prairie
City of St. Louis Park
Edina Schools
Richfield Schools
Hopkins Schools
OLG Schools
Minnesota State University-Mankato
Minnehaha Watershed District
Nine Mile Creek Watershed District
Three Rivers Park District
League of Minnesota Cities (KS)
Metro Cities (BS)
Municipal Legislative Commission (JH)
National League of Cities
Edina Chamber of Commerce
Greater MSP (JH)
Urban Land Institute-MN (JH)
Regional Council of Mayors (JH)
494 Coalition
169 Coalition
Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County (MB)
Southwest Cable Commission (MB)
Formal liaison assignments may or may not be a good idea. Even if it is a good idea, it may
not be feasible. I’d like to explore the topic with Council to the extent that we decide if the
topic is worthy of a more structured conversation at a future work session. I think that’s
about all we’ll have time for in thirty minutes.
