A1't , N'A, wASHINC,(ON, D.C. 20vJr rAr' l or 1 ' JG:S Swimming Pool Committee June 24, 1975 Present: Mary Jensen, Pool Manager; Clint Corwin, Assistant Pool Manager; Barbara Arend, community representative; Rick Jacobsen and Joan Lonsbury. Discussion was held on the Pool's finances and also on the repair statement. The new control system is not working properly. The committee expressed strong concern for things to be fixed and soon. We discussed ways we could save money in operation or raise revenue. It was decided to send out a bulk mailing to familes with young children. Clint Corwin volunteered to put the flyers together. He has experience in this field, however, volunteers are needed for addressing. Money could be saved by closing the pool during inclement weather. This is a policy change and must come from the Park and Recreation Department. Pool staff thinks this policy can be put into effect. Special event nights such as Junior High, Senior High, and Adult are not successful due to non attendance. Behavior has improved since Junior and Senior High special event nights have been split. However, if we continue these special event nights, we need a pos- itive program. If a program is not put into effect, the staff feels that they should be dropped. Discipline problems at the pool-can.be such that the control of the young people is impossible. Other problems discussed: music at the pool - it was decided to try low radio music at the discretion of the pool staff. The roof leaks. Put it on the list to be repaired. Adult swim: we will implement adult swim at 2:00, 4:00, and 7:30 pm for ten minutes. We believe this will benefit everyone. Children need a rest and adults can swim laps. Also, possible benefit at the cocession stand might be considered. Emergencies: on Saturday, June 20, a sudden severe thunder storm struck. The pool was quickly and calmly evacuated and the children were sheltered in the bathhouse. Staff indicated that this was done with no mishaps - everyone maintained control. The storm was so severe there were white caps in the pool and the flagpole blew over. The committee will meet in July to evaluate mailing and the financial situation. iJoan Lonsbury Swimming Pool Committee If F -.*CATION MAP C Rr-r K VAL,L:e,-Y.'.'. Sharpe. Lot 2, Sharpe Bakke Addition. 6600 Gleason Road. Refer to: Attached survey, area map showing lot sizes, and subdivision dedication report. The proponent is requesting a simple division of an existing lot for the purposes of creating a buildable homesite. There exists a single lot of approximately 42,820 square feet. The result would be the existing homesite with approximately 27,750 square feet and a new lot with 15,070 square feet. Except for the existing home - site and an adjoining lot with approximately 32,500 square feet, the lots in the area vary from 10,800 square feet to 14,000 square feet. Recommendation: Contingent on a 5% cash in lieu of parkland dedication (per the attached report), the staff would recommend approval.
