Minutes of the regular, meeting of the
Council of the Village of Edina,, held
on July 13th: 1929 at 8 PM in Grange
Fall, Test 50th. °St and Flooddale Avenue.
The meeting was called to order by President McGuire after
which the roll,was called. and found present McGuire,
Willson, Prescott and .Moore.
Mr Hermanson and others -living in the, Mirror' Lake District
were p.resent.to ask Council to open up 4th Avenue so that
a street car stop might be request.ed.of the Street. Car
Company. After discussion it was moved Moore,., seconded
Willson, that- Village- Engineer be instructed to prepair
estimated costs for doing the work on basis that one half
be assessed against the property 'benefited and the balance
out of general fund, carried.
Mr D.-R. McNaught,, offer of block 14 in. Browndal.e. Parr
Addition was present, whereupon the Recorder read a letter
by Mr McNaught under date of July 10th. 1929« offering to
convey to the Village of Edina, for Park purpomes,_.._s�:id
block 1.4. At this _pointlRecorder Moors offered the
following resolution
..hers; Mr D. 'R. McNaught and wife, owners of block 14
in�BroA dale Park Addition, according.to the plat thereof
on' file -and..of record in the office of the Register of
Deeds in and for said Hennepin-County, .Minnesota.
JAnd Whereas said Be R. McNaught and wife, in a letter
addressed to-the Village Council of the Village of Edina,
Hennepin County, Minnesota, and. darted• July 10th. 1929,
offer to convey said.. tract 'of land-to the Village of Edina,
by quitclaim deed$.under section X3090 of the General
Statute -s off' Minnesota, in tryst to hold, administer and
ipaintain the same as'a Public Park.,
And Whe it is. further provided that the above' described
tract of .land, will be maintained and kept sap by. the Village
of 3dina# as Public Parks usually are,, and that-it-will not
be used for storage purposes, filling stations.. or for
znerehandi.sing and that on failure to so keep up the property,
the title shall revert to the donors.

said_ Village Council on behalf of said Village and . receive
title thereto, subject to and in accordance with above terms
and conditions. I
The vote being upon the adoption of the resolution wherein
there were., yeas and no nays as follows, McGuire' yea,
Willson. ye, Prescott' yea„ Moore yea. and so ordered.

2Ar L. H. Fletcher, a resident, f Edina, appeared before the
Council withthe suggestion that a, police officer be provided
on a regular salary basis forthe next several months$ as
there was considerable fast dnd- careless driving throughout
the village, . The matter was, left for Council to hiandl.e.
Mr T. J.Jories, presented a petition for sidewalk in and along
the North side of West 44th Street, from Coolidge to'Mackey
Avenues, which represented a majority of the property affected.
On motion.Willson, seconded Moore, petition be received and
sidewalk ordered in, carried.

Dr Hamilton and hiss Moran. were present with reference
to changing the wording of letter directed by the Council
on May 14th meeting, vi,th reference to the construction and
operation of a Reot Hospitale ' After conoiderable dis-
cussion it was decided to leave as is .
Miss: Gifford, of the Family Welfare Bureau, was present with
the record of Albert Martine, a resident of . Edina in 1926,
and who had not lived elsewhere long enough to` establish
a residence*--- 11f Martine being bed ridden from a paralytic
stroke and not able to provide for himself.. It was moved
Willson, seconded Reimenn, Recorder arrange for admittance
of Mr Martine, at the County Farm at the expense of the Village
of Edina, carried*
Walter Tingdale, appeared before the Council asking a permit
be granted him under the- Zoning Law, -to complete the building
started before the Zoning Law was 'effective, on Sumit Avenue,
South of #5 on lot 22 block 3 Grandview Heights* lie was
advised that for the reason the building was started previous
to the Zoning Law being adopted, 'that a permit for this par-
ticular building mould not be required*

lir Alwin, appeared before tld& Council, for peimit. to erect a
temporary dwelling-on lot 16, Theiban's Brookside Addition,
which was refered to President McGuire.

A building permit was requested by Willard Cspppex-; to erect
a greenhouse on his unplatted property North of Interlacken
Roadj whi -ch was , refered to President McGuire, with power to act*
A communication- form State Dept.. of Agriculture, with reference
to appointment of Weed Inspector, was refered to President
licGuire, with power to act.'

the Village Recorder.
