Notion seconded by Willson, the vote being taken found there were five ayes and no nays and so duly declared carried. It was moved Moore that the Village Attorney be requested to prepare a theatre ordinance covering the licensing, operating comfort and general safety of theatres in the Village of Edina in which the annual license fee will be at the rate of $50.00 and patterened along the lines of the Einneapolis Theatre Ordinance. Motion seconded by Blackburn. The vote being taken found five ages and no na,ys and so duly. carried. There being no further business to come before the Council motion was made to adjourn and carried 11:50 Pit. The aeeting was called to order by the President, the roll called and all members of the Council were found present. Village Recorder Minutes of the regular meting of the Council of the Village of Edina held in Grange Hd1 at 8 PM, on March 26, 1934. Mr. L. L. Hanson apnea.red before the Council in the matter of Zocatirig 8. dry cleaning plaht costing approximately $20000.00 on lot 46, County Auditors Subdivision 172. In a.s much as the location would be that where Gloucester Ave., so called, would be located if cut through. It was sug- gested that Mr. Hanson see the planning engineer for the City of Minneapolis for his recommendations and suggestions in such a. case. Mr. Beach axpveared on behalf of his client,’ J. E. Bechtold, mho had submitted a proposition to the Council at its special meeting held on March 22, 1934 f8r the erec.tion of a theatre and again advised the Council his principle was ready to go ahead with the proposition immediately if granted a permit. Minutes o.f the special meeting held on March 22, 1934. for the purpose of considering several motion picture theatres were read. On motion Prescott they be amroved as rea,d, seconded by Blackburn and carried. Mr. Abeles, attorney, and Xr. Friedman, having heard the minutes of the March 22, 1934 meeting: read, next apneared before the Council and advised their .architects were working on plans and specifications and that notices has been given tenants on lot 45 to move, and further assured the Council 26 the project of building the proposed theatre would go qhead regardless of any similar program by others in the neighbor- hood, The gentlemen mere advised by several members of the Council that the work of wrecking and demolishing the buildings located on lot 45 was in their opinion expected to be started at once and that substantial progress on wrecking and excavat-kng mould be expected to be shown by the time of the meeting to be held on April%. Mr. A. C. Statt applied for Iton sale" license to sell in- toxicating liquor at the Country Club, Incorporated. After discussion in Qhich Village Attorney Strong participated, it was moved Blackburn that the Village Recorder be in- structed and a-uthorized to issue to the Country Club an IIon sale" intoxicating l%quor license when the lam had been passed on by the court showing it proper to do so armd that the Village ACtorney be instructed to submit matter to the proper court. Eotion mas seconded by Prescott and carried. Apdication in due form having been rnade by and on befialf of the Interlachen Country Club Incorporated for licence to sell intoxicating liquor on the Olub remises wa.s re- ceived together with check in amount of i 100.00 to cover cost of an annual fee. It mas thereupon moved Blackburn that license be granted, seconded by Prescott and carried. Apdication for renewal of non-intoxicating malt liquor license by and on bejialf of the Country Club together nith check in amount of $25.00 to oover Iton sa.le" non-intoxicating malt liquor license fee mas also received. Whereupon it mas moved Prescott that the same be granted, seconded by Blackburn and carried, Mr. A. Peterson, 3904 West 50th St. presented a proposed license regulating and licensing Barber Shops in Edina. On motion Prescott be received and accepted, seconded by Willson and carried. It was moved Prescott that advances be allowed and paid Village road crew and Dolice officers as indicated by the Recorder in the Time Book,%econded by Villson and carried. It was moved Prescott that marrznt be issued and check dram in amount of $10.00 in favor of Robert Roberg for rent of &fi, Bertha Lohr, a legal resident of Edina, 37 - 9th Ave, So., Hopkins, Hinnesota, to cover period February 20 to Earch 20. Hotion seconded by Pfillson and carried. It was moved by Trustee Blackburn, chairmen of the police committee, that the salary of Nice OfficeHeydt be at the rate of $100.00 per month beginning as of Ami1 1. Eotion seconded by Vi1 &on and carried. Treasurer Dugpan placed before the Counci1,paid Fairnay Cufb & Gutter special assessment marrants No. 27, 28,.29 and 30 in - amount $500.00 each, also Sanitar Sewer special assessment narrants No. 17 and 18 in amount $500.00 each and Storm Sewers special zseeement warrants No. 29, 30, and 31 in amount $500.00 each, total $4500.00. Upon duly being examined by the several members of the Council they mere mutilated by the Recorder to the extent. of tearing off the signature of the then Village Recorder Hr. Edson and in turn placed in the vault for safe- keeping. Petition vas received signed by Mr. Lan3, Kollestad, Eillan and others requesting that the Zoning Ordinance be changed PO as to permit of additional territory in which to build a proposed theatre on France Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets. On motion Blackburn be receved and placed on file, seconded by Prescott and carried, _L__ 27 Minutes of the regular mee,ing of the Oouncil held on Mmch 12, 1934 were read.
