The meeting was called to order by greaident Sharpe, the roll called and all members of the Council were prea96nt. Ninutes of the regular meeting of the Council, held on October * 10, 1938, were read. On motion Hohten, they be approxed as read, seconded Villson and carried. Minutes of the recessed October 10, 1938 meeting a:f the Counci3i held on Octaber 18, 1938, were read. On motion Willson , they be approved as read, seconded by Hollten a-nd ,aztrr&gd. The pay rdl advances having been carefully noted and found carrect, it was moved Villsom they be duly allawed and ordered paid. Secanded by Ealten and carried . . Trustee Willson reported on the new Relief Set Up oaf the 8 neighbaring towns and villages and that it was proposed to occupy the old Daw house in Ropkins. About 5 regular workers would be employed, with operations to start as of movember first. Frank Garrison advised the Co.uncil he would like to build at 56th Street and St. John's and requested a graded road. whereupon it vas moved by Moore that the matter be referred to Chairman Prescott, seconded by Bolten and carried. Nr. C.D.Hil1 withdrew his former petition presented at the October 10th meeting and presented new petitions and dedicatians, which on motion Trustee Holten be referred to Village Attorney for opinion. Seconded by Xoore and carried. Becorder lraoore reported on the proposition of having submitted to VJPA the data prepared by Village Engineers Carrall and Bradley for main intercepting sewer extending from East village limits to approximately Wooddale Avenue and Qdest 50th Street, and it was planned to have the project set up for Council action at the next regular meeting. I Village Attorney Strong presented Quit-Claim deed to the North 30 feet of Government Lot 3, in 4-116-21,Hennepk County, from Katherine D. Williams, et al, to the Village of Edina, for road purposes. Whereupon it was moved by Moore the deed be duly acceg'ted an behalf of the Village. Seconded by Holten and carried. It was moved by Holten that the matter of condemnation of land for road purposes as petitioned by Erling Mostue and athers be referred tat the regular meeting of the Council to be held on January 23, 1939. Application by Minneapolis Gas Light Company for permission to lay gas mains in and along west 55th Street from Xerxes to York and south on York a distance of 200 feet, was on rnoticrn Prescott be I Seconded by Xoors and carried. 1 granted. Seconded Ha.lten and carried. Application of Ninneapo)lis Go E. Company to) set one pole on 59th Street between Qaklawn and Brookview Avenues was on motion of Prescott be granted. Seconded Holten and carried. Recorder read letter from Far. F. W. Kersten and others requesting a street light be installed o;ni 52nd 8,treet near Kelllogg Avenue. Trustee Prescott suggested better lighting of Interlachen Road between Highmay 169 and Blake Road. After discussion, Trustee Prescott moved that the Minneapollis G.E. Company be requested ta submit a lighting survey of Interlachen Road and 52nd and Kellogg. Seconded by Moore aad barried. Recorder read letters from Minneapolis Eire Department and his reply giving area to be served by Xinneapolis Pire Department on Village of Edina according to the 'Trotected Area" map. to the Council, I f This was satisfactory Tillage Attorney Strong read his letter to the Attorney General dated September 17, 1938 and A%torney General's reply dated October 14, 1938 on legality of certairi sewage charges, wZth Kr. St.rong to ascertain details on issuance of Tillage bonds -. or Village Sever warrants to finance Village portion if set up under VJPA . E?, F.C,EckIund consulted further with the Council regarding culverts fo carry storm mater heretofore naturally draining fvlta the lam area at IJ-V part of Waird 4011 and would further advise Trustee Holten mi-bhin the next couple of days. It was moved by Prescott that bids be called for one "Vee type" snow plow to fit #22 Caterpillar tractor. Eoore and carrfed.
