HomeMy WebLinkAbout19410519_REGULAR159 Minutes of the recessed portion of the May 12, 194.l meeting of the Council of the Village of Edina, duly held in Grange Hall on May 19th, 190, at 8:00 o'clock p. 3. The meeting was called to order by the President, the roll called and all I members of the Council were present. Discussion was had on the petition by owners for abandonment of Village rights to dedication for use as public road of the North 30 feet of Lot 1, Block 3, South White Oaks Addition, whereupon Willson moved the petition be received and public notice of hearing be held at time of regular Council meeting on June 9, 190; seconded Wyatt, and carried. Mr. S. I, Ryan appeared before the Council in the matter 02 providing parking lot for his bowling alley patrons and agreed to provide a 125x126 feet parking lot across the street in &nneapolis, and 132-r;lrO feet parking lot in Edina, includjcng attendant, lights and signs, whichweresatisfactory to the Council. --RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS FOR RENTAL OF EQUIPMENT AND AUTHOFZZING CONTRACT - DISTRICT NO. 8 - Trustee Willson offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: WKEREAS, pursuant to advertisement for bids published in The Hemepin County Review .and The Improvement Bulletin, orpe each week for three (3) successive weeks, bids have been received for rental of equipment to be used in the con- struction of a sanitary sewer in Sewer District No. 8, in said Village, and the same having been duly opened, considered and the responsibility of the respective bidders having been duly investigated; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the Village of Edina, that the bid of J. A, Danens & Son, for the rental of a crane equipped for drag line, with 35-foot boom, 5/8 cubic yard drag line bucket, at a rental of $4.84 per hour, including operator, oiler, gas, oil, maintenance and insurance, per specifica- tions, '1s hereby determined to be the bid of the lowest responsible bidder for the rental ofthis specific equipment; that the bid of Wm; H. Ziegler Company, Inc., for the rental of one new Bucyrms-Erie, uodel15-B, half-yard combination clam-shell, drag line and lifting crane, equipped with 3/8 cubic yard Owens clam-shell bucket and lifting crane hook, With 3O-foot boom, at a rental of $3;13 per hour, is hereby determined to be the bid of the lowest responsible bidder for the-rental of this specific equipment; and the President and the Clerk of the Village are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with sed 5, A. Danens & Son and Wm, H. Ziegler Company, Inc., in the name of the Village, for the rental of said equipment. The motion to adopt was seconded by Trustee Irgens, and the vote was upon the question of the adoption of the resolution, wherein there were five ayes and no nays, and so the resolution was adopted. ATTEST8 I t i 'I ? - Village Clerk - After report by Chairman Willson of Road and Bridge Committee, Trustee Lrgens moved to accept the recommendation of State Industrial commission, wherein the Standard Accident Insurance Company would pay the medical and hospital expenses case of Louis Stolgman, injured December 3rd, 1940, while working in Tillage road work; seconded Willson and carried. No further business to come before the meeting at thd time, the President declared the meeting recessed to meet at the call of the President. - Village Recorder - ."8
