HomeMy WebLinkAbout19410929_REGULAR239 Kinutes of the recessed portion af the regular September 22, 1941 meeting of the Council of the Village of Edina, duly held on September 29, 1941, in Grange Hall at 8:OO orclock p. m. The meeting was called ts order by the President and all members of the Caluncil were present. Eessrs. Rice, Kemptan, Swandoy, & Lair appeared before the Cotuncil in regard to storm water drainage in the area of Indianola & Jaunita Avenues, North of West 52nd Street. Discussion was had with Chairman Willson advising that a starm sewer system had been laid out by Village Engineer Bradley and that it was hoped to install same by WA labor this winter , Chairman Willson of the Road and Bridge Committee suggested trading in a Village Tord truck and purchase of a heavier truck & snow plow. After discussion Willson moved that bids be taken for one 2 ton truck, with trade in allowance on one 1939-1* ton Ford truck without dump body and also bids on one hand Hydraulic lift one way snow plow to be fitted to Village two ton truck, both items to Village specifications and mag: be purchased either on one bid or separately, the motion was seconded by Vyatt and carried. Discussion mas had on storm water drainage at Prance Avenue near Yest 55th Street, whereupon Villson moved to accept the proposition of the County Highway Department to install 12" starm water drain between 54th and 55th Streets, running 300 feet Vest of France Avenue over easement to be granted and on basis of Hennepin County paying one-half the entire costs, seconded by Wyatt and carried. --. 12. I Trustee Irgens offered the following resolution and moved its adopt ion : WHEREAS, the petition of a majmity of the owners of real property fronting on that certain street, described as: Garden Avenue, a street within the Village of Edina, has been duly filed with the Village Council, and said Council did meet at the time and place specified in a Notice duly gublished and posted, and has heard-all interested persons, and it appears in the interests of the public that a part of said street be vacated; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLTED, by the Village Council of the Village of Ediria, that all of Garden Avenue extending Bortherly from a point 202.7 feet South from the South line of Lot 7 (extended), Garden Park an addition within said Village, according to the plat thereof filed of record in the office of the Register of Deeds, in and for Hinnepin County, Minnesota, and as such part of said street is now dedicated and laid out within the corporate limits of said Village, be hereby vacated, The motion to adopt was seconded by Zecorder Noore, and the vote was upon the question of the adoption of the resolution, wherein there were five ayes and no nays, and so the resolution was adopted. President of Council Village Clerk After discussion Koare moved that in lieu af Garden Avenue as originally laid out that a new turnpiked road be installed extending Sauth from Highway 169, to Grove Street, at general Village expense and subject tcr the Village acquiring easements within period of one year and aithout cost to the village along rear line of Lots 1, 3, 4, & 5, Garden Park Addition, and Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 43, 44, and 45 Varden Acres, seconded by Irgens and unanimously carried. 110 further business to come before the Council at this time, . the President declared the meeting recessed to meet again at the same time and place at the call of the aesident. \ Village Recorder '
