HomeMy WebLinkAbout19420525_REGULAREinutea of the regular meeting of tkLa Council of the Village of Edina, duly held in Grange Hall on &y 25, 1942 , at 8 ZOO o'clock P. E. The meeting was called to order by President Sharpe, the roll called and all members of the Council were prekent. Edinutes of the regular meeting of the: Council held on Eay 11, 1942, were read, on motion Willson, they be approved as read, seconded Gebo and carried. The Village pay roll advances having been carefully noted and found correct, Trustee Willson, moved, they be duly allowed and arderad gaid, seconded by Wyatt and carried. It was moved by Villson that bills and sccounts of Sewer District #8, for labor, as represented by Recorders warrants #233, 234, and 235, be duly allawed armd ordered paid, secainded Wyatt and carried . A group of residents living in the vicinity of \Vest 44th Street, Vest af Browndale Ave., headed by Er. Kruger, requested the Council stap construction work in Sewer District #8 and to abate the assessment. After and hours discussion, wherein members af the Council endeavored to answer all questions asked, the President stated that the Village at-borney had recently advised that inasmuch as the warrants of Sewer District had been sole and assessment levied, that nothing could be done to cancell the assessment, Er. Xemptora and others advised they had contacted Tkorpe Bras., Inc. since the last meeting of the Council concerning release of easement for storm mater ditch on Lots 3, 4, 6, and 7, Block 13, Glenview, as same was no longer needed, After short disaussion . Village Engineer Smith was requested to so advise Thorpe Bros. Inc. W. Jordan 5112 3aunita Am., and others, requested that the Parkways be raised at Village expense, to meet grade of curb and gutter now being installed. After discussion the matter was ref erred to Engineer Smith. I.&. A, L, Stauschfield, discussed with the Council the matter of delequent sewer rental charges applying to the commercial building at N-Ti corner Vest 50th St. and Brance Avenue. After discussion m. Stauschfield was advised that with the possible exception of creating a new rate far physicians, occupying but 1 room for office, that the rate could not otherwise be changed, I&. Carl X. Hanson appeared with request that the Cauncil petition Fire Underwriters Inspection Eureau for lower fire insurance rates in such areas of the Village as where water mains and fire hydrants had recently been installed and which were less that 1000 feet from a fire hydrant, whereupon the Recorder was requested ta take up with the Bureau. Eembers of the Edina Volunteer Fire Dept. vere present and advised that the Duca two tone fire siren was not sufficiently loud to be heard by members living not more that a mile from Bire Station. After discussion the President offered to take up the matter with the siren manufacturers. .Chairman Wyatt recommended that the Village pay the City of WnneapoLis the sum of- $52.00 in full for all accounts for Relief furnished Ers, &ude Needhorn, seconded Xoore and carried, The hour of midnight having arrived, the President declared the meeting recessed to meet again at the same time and place on &y 26, 1942, at 8:00 orclock P, E. f Village Recorder r
