President Sharpe reported in detail on the Bus situation and the matter left in his hands for further attention. Recorder 710ore, Bresented revised plans of the proposed Village Hall vhich vere studied and discussed at length by the council and whereupon Uoore moved to proceed with the construction of the first unit, using non-essential mar time materials and on basis of Jar Production Board allowance for Public and Civilian Defense bulldings, seconded by Trustee 12illsonp and ctzrried. The matter of employing a full tima clerk in the office of Village Engineer mas discussed and vhereirr the application of Cleo S. &elan, 17as considered the most favorable. Thereupon Eoore moved that Cleo S. i'lhelan, be employed as Office Clerk in the office of Village Engineer at a salary of $75.00 per month beginning as of June I, 1942, seconded by Trustee Gebo and carried, . Communication by Clarence 0. Holten, under date of Eay 20, 1942, to President Sharpe, advised that on account of his entering the Elilitary Service of the United States, he would be obliged to tender his resignation as Village Attorney. moved that under such circumstances that the resignation be accepted and the Recorder be requested to extend to Cr Holten, the Cauncilfs thanks and appreciation for the excellent services Xr Holten at all times rendered, seconded by Koore and carried by unaninous vote of all members of the Cawcil. President Sharpe, read letter dated &y 23, 1942, from Officer in charge of Eaval Recruiting,. suggesting that a Committee be 2. appointed to assist in the work. Thereupon and with the con- sent of the Council, President Sharpe appointed Phil7. Smith, Chairman, and the Council as members and set the evening of June 3, 1942, as a date for meeting aith a representive of the Navy to outline the work to be done.
