The council-met in committee session, to hear the report of Richard Furber of
Northern States Poxer Company, who advocated the installation of Twenty-nine new
ltghts throughout the Village, and an increase in candle power for those lights
now installed.

publicly posted %rch 29, 1947, council convened in special session to
conduct public-hearing on the applicztion of John Person for permit to build
a barn on the bouth C!ne-Half of Block Fifteen, Mendelssohn Addition.
Person spoke in his ovm behalf, stating that this pe&t had been granted by
the Council 09 &rch 18, and that his neighbors were objecting unjustly,
that his horse sind its colt would be no bother to anyone, and that he believed
he should have the permit because of the fact that there were barns and other
agricultural buildings immediately ad joining his property.

Bloomquist, Berg, and IEss iqewland, stated to the CouncilW at the agricultural
buildjxgs onthe surrounding properties were no longer being used to house
livestock, and that such buildings hed been in the neighborhood many years and
mre now being torn down. Hawthorne moved that the" matter be referred to the
Village Attorney for his study and report at the regular meeting of April 14.

Oral request was made as to the Council!s policy on granting permit to operate
a kennel on t'ne Bondhus property on Highvmy # 169 between Hansen Rozd and
Tracy Avenue. Letter front Nickels and %nith Company, agents -$or-the o2mers of
Warden Acres, and petition signed by W,G. Granger 2nd others;"protesting this
kennel, were read. Applicants were infomed that a kennel is considered a
commercial enterprise, and, as such, would not be allowed in the Open Developaent
District.

as of this date, and that his salary as Patrolman be set at rfS2l5.OO per month,. as
of April 9, was seconded by kJillson and carried.
