FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Olympic-Themed Open Skate Event to be held at Braemar Arena
Edina, Minn., Jan. 9, 2018 – Braemar-City of Lakes Figure Skating Club and Braemar Skating School will
host a skating event at Braemar Arena, 7501 Ikola Way, 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21.
“This event is an open house for anyone interested in learning about our programs. There will be information
to learn more about the skate school and Braemar-City of Lakes Figure Skating Club,” said Kathleen Gazich,
Co-Head Professional of Braemar-City of Lakes Figure Skating Club. “Skate School Instructors will be out on
the ice to help people with their first time skating and to provide mini lessons for those who are interested.”
The event starts with free open skating and information about Braemar’s skating programs. A short skating
demonstration will be presented by members of the Braemar-City of Lakes Figure Skating Club at 2 p.m.,
followed by more open skating. The event is free to attend. Skate rental is available for $3.
“We wanted to do an Olympic theme this year because the interest in skating has peaked and we have two
coaches who are former Olympians: Surya Bonaly and Caryn Kadavy. Our numbers have been growing
steadily and we’ve become one of the largest skate schools in Minnesota. We are proud that our programs
have had success,” said Gazich.
Braemar Arena offers programs for all ages and abilities: Learn to Skate (children and adults), Dream Skating
(adaptive and therapeutic), Beginning Hockey, Figure Skating, Synchronized Skating and homeschool skating
classes.
