North Ramp at 50th & France Opens For Parking
Edina, Minn., March 23, 2018 – A week ahead of schedule, the North Ramp at 50th & France opened for
public parking Thursday, March 22.
“Despite some difficult winter conditions, the crew at A & P Construction has kept on task and was able to
re-open portions of the North Ramp earlier than expected,” said Economic Development Manager Bill
Neuendorf. “The schedule has been critical so that parking remains available for both employees and
customers who enjoy visiting the 100-plus businesses at 50th & France.”
Two sites along Market Street are being redeveloped to enhance the 50th & France business district. The
Edina Housing & Redevelopment Authority voted to expand the North Parking Ramp. Construction began in
January and the project is on schedule to be completed in September 2018. Private developers are poised to
begin construction of a new project called Nolan Mains in early April. When that work begins, the City’s
Center Parking Ramp will close. When Nolan Mains is complete in the fall of 2019, it will deliver 100 new
apartment homes, new retail space and underground public parking centered around a new public plaza with
pedestrian walkways.
To alleviate concerns about parking at 50th & France while major construction is under way, the City and
developer are providing free valet parking to all visitors. Customers and employees can use either of the two
valet locations: at 50th Street and Halifax Avenue (in front of D’Amico & Sons) or Market Street and France
Avenue (in front of Spalon Montage). Valet service is provided from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through
Fridays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. The free valet service is available until the North Ramp is completed in
September. Tipping is not expected.
