Student Positions Open for City of Edina Commissions
Edina, Minn., April 19, 2018 – The City of Edina seeks student applications for the City Council’s eight
advisory commissions. Two seats are available on each of the commissions.
Commissions include:
• Arts & Culture Commission
• Community Health Commission
• Energy & Environment Commission
• Heritage Preservation Commission
• Human Rights & Relations Commission
• Parks & Recreation Commission
• Planning Commission
• Transportation Commission
“This unique volunteer experience allows students to get a closer look at local government and operations
of the city in which they live,” said Project Coordinator MJ Lamon. “Students are encouraged to help take
on work plan initiatives of the commission and speak on the student perspective. And most importantly,
students are able to serve their community utilizing their skills and talents.”
Applicants must be 14-17 years in age, be enrolled in a secondary school and live in Edina to participate.
Applicants do not need to attend a school in Edina. Appointments are for one year and begin on Sept. 1.
Applications are due May 31; selections will be made by June 19. To learn more or to apply, visit
