Open Houses on Arden Park Updates Set for May 5 and 8
Edina, Minn., April 19, 2018 – Two open houses will be held in May to keep people up to date on the
Arden Park restoration project.
The first one will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5, at the playground area of Arden Park,
5230 Minnehaha Blvd. If there is bad weather, it will be moved to City Hall.
The second open house will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St.
Representatives of the City of Edina and the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) will be on
hand to explain aspects of the project and answer questions. The open houses will include an
overview of the project, planting zone information, stormwater management details and explanation
of the stream restoration design components for bank stabilization. The same information will be
presented at both open houses.
Following the May 8 open house, the Parks & Recreation Commission will hear an update on Arden
Park. That meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall.
Those who are unable to attend the open houses can learn more on the project webpages at
EdinaMN.gov/parks and Minnehahacreek.org. Another open house is scheduled for August 2018 to
provide updates as the design phase progresses.
The City and MCWD are working together to improve Minnehaha Creek and the overall health of
Arden Park while adding recreational opportunities there. Groups of Arden Park residents are
helping to design the new shelter building for Arden Park and the new playground.
