Walk with the Mayor Scheduled for July 18
Edina, Minn., July 5, 2018 – The next Walk with the Mayor is scheduled for 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday,
July 18. The walk will be held at Centennial Lakes Park, 7499 France Ave. S. Participants should meet at
Hughes Pavilion in Centennial Lakes Park a few minutes before the start of the walk.
Participating in the Walk with the Mayor gives community members a chance to voice concerns, share
opinions and thoughts as well as just talk with Mayor Jim Hovland while getting to know the city a little bit
better. No prior registration is required to attend Walk with the Mayor, simply show up at the designated
meeting time to walk and talk with Mayor Hovland.
“Centennial Lakes Park is a beautiful park no matter the season, but it’s particularly special in the summer
when the putting green is being enjoyed, paddle boats are on the water and hundreds of people are enjoying a
great walk. It’s also lovely to see the many public art sculptures throughout the park,” said Hovland. “The
bridges in the park are scheduled to be replaced in September and will include ADA-accessible ramps and slip-
resistant decks. Come join me on our walk to talk about current issues and get some photos of the popular
bridges.”
Summer walks have been held during the week to accommodate busy weekend schedules. Beginning in
September, the walk will again be held on Saturdays. Upcoming walk With the Mayor events include:
• 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 15, Fred Richards Park, Fred Richards Clubhouse
• 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 50th & France, Edina Landmark Theater
Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. In the event of rain, the walk
will be held at Southdale Center; participants should meet near the Caribou Coffee in the center court. For
