The app replaces the City’s previous app, Edina To Go, and provides new reporting tools to community members and better communication between City staff and Edina 311 users. “Basically, this allows us to be notified about problems or concerns quicker, so that we can address them faster. It puts the power in our residents’ hands to send us their concerns,” said Parks & Natural Resources Assistant Director Tom Swenson. “A good example is when there is a tree limb across a walking trail. Our staff doesn’t drive the whole trail every single day, but residents find it when they’re using the park and they can give us immediate feedback so we can solve the problem much quicker.” The Engineering, Police and Public Works departments all use Edina 311 to collect concerns and feedback from community members. Issues such as animal control, damaged mailbox or sod, fire hydrant maintenance, streets or parks issues, overgrown vegetation and standing water all can be logged in Edina 311. Edina 311 was developed by SeeClickFix, a government mobile application developer. SeeClickFix has also produced apps for nearby communities, including Eden Prairie, Richfield and Minneapolis. Based on previous use of Edina To Go, City staff expects about 600 issues to be reported through Edina 311 a year. “SeeClickFix really focuses on the ability of the residents to report and communicate with their local government. We spend a lot of time making sure that our platform is the easiest to use and the friendliest to use across a diverse population,” said SeeClickFix Director of Customer Success Cari Tate. “The City of Edina joining the SeeClickFix family further communicates the City’s commitment to transparency and customer service for the community and the City’s desire to engage with the residents.” If you still have Edina To Go installed on your phone, it’s important to delete it and install Edina 311. Edina To Go is no longer supported by the City. For more information, contact Communications Coordinator Krystal Caron at kcaron@EdinaMN.gov. -30-
