POLICE DEPARTMENT'S "JET" INTROlhJCED. sen of the Edina Police Department along with "Jet" the new Edina Police Dog who has been trained for fourteen-weeks under a grant from the Law Enforcement Assfistance Administration under the Department of Justice. Nr. He advised that this hearing is being called as a result of a request from the City of Richfield for Village of Edina participation in the oil stabilization of the entire street, the West one-half of which lies in the Village of Edina. Mr. James A. Halvorsen, 6700 Xerxes Ave. S., was told by Mr, Hyde that the street .surfacing which had been done to his street 17 or 18 years ago was not a permanent street. permanent street. would last at least five years and that Richfield is now starting on a program of permanent surfacing for its streets. of Edina would continue to maintain the street in the same manner as in the past. Discussion was held regarding Village Attorney EriclcsonEs memo regarding the utility relocation agreement with the State of Minnesota, setting forth the Village's liability exposure and possible State action if the Village refuses to relocate the utilities. stated that even though the agreement for the relocation of the utilities may not be signed, the possibility exists that the project would still be con- structed, so it is necessary to approve those projects involving assessable costs.
