EDINA VILLAGE COUNCIL HELD
MARCH 12, 1973
Meeting in special session on March 12, 1973, the following resolution was
unanimously adopted by the Council:
RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION
EDfNA HIGH SCHOOLS' HOCKEY TEAMS
TO THE
IJHFXEAS, for the fifth consecutive year, Edina continued its domination of
high school hockey in the State of Minnesota, even though the 1972-73
season was the first in which two high schools represented the Village; and
WHEREAS, the Edina-East High School Hockey Team won the championships of the .
Lake Conference, and of Region Six and performed magnificently in the State
Tournanent ; and
WHEREAS, the Edina-East High School Hockey Team compiled a record of twenty
wins, one loss, and two ties prior to the tournament; and
FJHEREAS, the Edina-Vest High School Hockey Team finished second in the Lake
Conference and second in Region Six -- compiling a record of eighteen wins,
three losses, and two ties; and
WEREAS, the members of both teams, under the able and dedicated leadership
of Coach Willard Ikola of Edina-East, Coach Bart Larson of Edina-West and
Athletic Director Howard Nerriman, again exemplified the highest standards of
good sportsmanship, athletic proficiency, and gentlemanly conduct, as
representatives of the Village of Edina;
NOV, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Edina,
on behalf of the citizens of Edina, that all mzmbers of the Edina High Schools'
Hockey Teams be publicly commended for their outstanding accomplishments; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that appropriate copies of this resolution be presented
to the members of the Edina-East Hockey Team:

Zimmerman, Student Elanagers John Senior and Dave Weatherhead, Head Coach
Willard Ikola, Assistant Coach Ed Zins and Principal Rolland J. Ring
and to the members of the Edina-Vest Hockey Team:

No further business appearing, the meeting was adjourned.
