HomeMy WebLinkAbout19740310_special80 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL NEETING OF THE EDINA CITY COUNCIL HELD ON MARCH 10, 1974 Meeting in special session on March 10, 1978, the following resolution was unanimously adopted by the Counci'l: RESOLUTION OF CONGRATULATIONS TO THE EDINA-EAST HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY TEAM T.lHEREAS, Edina's long-standing superiority in youth hockey was maintained during the 1973-74 season by the Edina-East High Sch"oo1 Hockey Team which won TWENTY-EIGHT straight games, climaxing its efforts by winning the Minnesota State High School Tournament championship; and WHEREAS, as a result of the team's exceptional record in regular season play, Edina-East was unanimously rated as No. 1 in high school hockey in the State of Minriesota; and WHEREAS, as representatives of the City of Edina, the members of the team continued to exemplify the highest standards of gentlemanly conduct, athletic . proficiency and good sportsmanship; and * WHEREAS, Head Coach Willard Ikola and Assistant Coach Ed Zins again were primarily responsible, because of their dedication and unselxishness , for pro- viding the leadership; and TJHEREAS, Edina-East's success in hockey is due in large part to the untiring efforts of many parents who participate in the comprehensive Edina youth hockey program; NCX?, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDINA, on behalf of the Citizens of Edina, that all members of the Edina-East High Schoo.1 Hockey team be publicly commended and thanked for their outstanding I accomplishments; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that appropriate copies of this resolution be presented to members of the Edina East Hockey team: Jim Anderson, Tom Brower, *John Daniels, Dave Finks, Bob Frawley, Jon Hughes, Matt Ikola, Jerry Johnson, Larry Johnson, Mike-Mastor, Steve Nichols, Captain Craig Norwich, Andy Overman, Tim Pavek; Charlie Pet- ersen, Steve Polsfuss, Steve Sherman, Bill Thayer, Student Managers -John Senior and Adam Plhite, Head Coach t7illard Ikola, Assistant Coach Ed Zins, Athletic Director Howard llerriman and Principal Raymond P.
