IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING BOARD OF mvzm MEETING Council met in special session imnediately following Board of Review Meeting. Answering rollcall were Councilmen Courtney and Richards and Mayor Van Valken- burg. COUNCILYA RICHARDS APPOINTED TO HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY. Van Valkenburg offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: Mayor .> A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPOINTNENT OF AUTHORITY OF EDINA, MINNESOTA ' FREDERICK S. RIG-S TO THE HOUSING AND REDEVELOPNENT BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Edina, Minnesota, that the appointment by the Hayor of Edina, Minnesota, of Frederick S.. Richards to serve as Commissioner of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Edina, Minnesota, for the remainder of a five year term which began on April 1, 1975, as set forth in the Certificate of Appointment dated June 18, 1975, be and the same is hereby approved. Notion for adoption of the resolution was seconded by Councilman Courtney and on rollcall there were three ayes and no nays and the resolution was adopted. The Mayor then declared the special meeting adjourned at 10:17 P.M. V City Clerk f. .. MINUTES OF SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING ' HELD THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 1975, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING BOARD OF REVIEW mETING 10:20 P.M. Council met in special session immediately following Board of Review Meeting. Answering rollcall were Councilmen Courtney, Richards, Shaw, Councilwoman Schmidt and Mayor Van Valkenburg. PARAMEDIC PROGRAM AND PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT AUTHORIZED. attention to a memorandum from Fire Chief Robert Buresh advising that the Edina Fire Department could be certified to become operational with its Paramedic Program by August I, 1975. Council was reminded that at present the Fire Depart- ment is operating a rescue squad unit using firefighters who have been trained in all phases of fire department rescue squad prccedures, automobile extrication, the advanced American Red Cross course, and the Emergency Medical Technician training. Mr. Hyde recommended that, if the program is approved, that a21 patrolmen be trained to the level of emergency medical technicians, which train- ing Hennepin County General Hospital will provide at no charge. by lfr, Hyde, COUNCILMAN SHAW'S MOTION approving the Paramedic Program and author- izing the expenditure of $4,231.55 for a Lifepak 4 Unit, and for an additional $3,173.00 for miscellaneous equipment was seconded by Councilman Richards and carried. to $2,500 per year for drugs, miscellaneous supplies and the replacement of equipment, and that the City will be receiving approximately $8,000 to $9,000 worth of radio equipnignt at no cost which will be donated through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Mayor Van Valken- burg advised Council that he has asked Mr. Jack Rice and Pfr. Vincent McConville to work out the questions to be on the ballot for the Special Election to be held on September 4, 1975., so that they can be presented for Council approval on July 7, 1975. The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned at 10:35 p.m.
