Mr- Raymond O'Connell, Co-Chairman of the Human Relations Commission, referred to goals and objectives formulated by the Commission and noted that the name of the Commission was "Human Rights" as against "Human Relations" as is somgtimes used. her term as a CETA employee has expired. Mr. O'Connell endorsed Mr. Rosland's suggestion that Ms. Smith be retained by the City under contract for one year until the South Hennepin Human Services Study has been completed. Mr. Rosland reviewed various areas in which Ms. Smith could be of service to the City, in- cluding working on a human services inventory, coordination of volunteer services, He recommended that Ms. Cecelia Smith be retained on the City staff after .. - .. 9 119179 transportation, health services for senior citizens, investigate methods of procuring health funds and as the staff representative and secretary to the Human Relations Commission. Discussion was also had regarding areas in which Senior Police Reserve Officers could assist in training for POST (Police Officers Standard Training) and also assist with Civil Defense duties. explained that he would like to see cross-training of fire fighters and inspectors and also recommended the possible addition of five fire fighters. The Mayor called Council'a attention to a schedule of adjust- ments to the proposed 1980 Budget, advising that he had recommended an increase in building permit fees and ambulance charges which increases were reflected in the adjustment schedule.
