HomeMy WebLinkAbout19791029_special2Q8 MIMJTES OF SPEC': AL MEETING OF EDINA CITY COUNCIL HSLD AT CITY HALL 'Oh' OCTOBER 29, 1979 Pursuant to due notice given, the: Edina City Council convened in special session in the City Hall Conference Room at k:30 p.m. Bredesen, Courtney, Richards, Schmidt and Nayor Van Valkenburg. Present also : was Mrs. Anita Benda, consultant representative for the Southwest Cable Commis- sion. Members answering rollcall were Hr. Campbell presented a film entitled "CaMe - The Immediate Future" which gen- erally described the technical aspects of Cable TV. General d5scussion was had regarding the advisability of staying with the Southwest Suburban CATV group 01: whether the City should pursue Cable TV by itself. Councilman Bredesen objected to the Invitation for Applications, particularly as it pertained tc two-way pr~graming, Zhe franchise fee and local origination. The question of satisfac- tory cooperation between the participatiag communities was also discussed. 3f-r- Erickson advised that he had met with City Attorneys from the participating municipalities and said that other meetings of the attorneys are anticipated. In response to a question of the Mayor, Councilman Courtney said that the Invitation for Applications had been as specific as possible in order to safeguard the vari- ous municipalities.
