FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ice skating to open at Centennial Lakes Park
Edina, Minn., Dec. 3, 2014 – The 10-acre lake at Centennial Lakes Park will open for the skating
season earlier than normal due to the cold weather already setting in. Skaters can start enjoying the
lake on Friday, Dec. 5.
To ensure the best skating conditions possible, the ice is groomed daily by maintenance crews.
In between skating sessions, skaters can rest up in a cozy, rink-side warming house, complete
with indoor and outdoor fireplaces or grab a snack at the concessions stands which offers a
variety of snacks from hot chocolate to hot dogs.
There is no admission charge to skate at Centennial Lakes and skate rental is available for $6
per pair; ice sled rental is $7 per hour and trainers are also available for an extra fee. Photo
identification must be given as a deposit for all rentals.
Concessions stand and rental hours are 4 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 9:30
p.m. Saturday and noon to 9:30 p.m. Sunday and most school holidays. Please note that although
concessions and rentals do not open until 4 p.m. on weekdays, the skating rink opens at noon to
accommodate those with their own skates.
The lake is scheduled to remain open to skaters until February. The closing date will be based
upon weather conditions.
Free parking is available onsite and the park is handicapped accessible. For more information on
