Parks & Recreation Department to host workshop to
kickoff master planning process
Edina, Minn., Dec. 5, 2014 – The City of Edina’s Park & Recreation Department and its consultant will kick
off the master planning process for its park system with a public workshop Dec. 18.
The parks master plan is expected to provide direction for the City’s park system for the next 10 to 20 years.
Confluence Group – made up of Pros Consulting, Barr Engineering, 292 Design Group and Dreambox – is the
consultant leading the project as consultants, evaluating the entire park system and its assets.
At the workshop 7 to 9 p.m. at the Public Works & Park Maintenance Facility, 7450 Metro Blvd., Confluence
Group will work to gain an understanding of the public’s perception of the needs, strengths, weaknesses and
opportunities of the City’s park system. Those in attendance will also help identify desires and priorities that
residents want to define Edina’s parks and recreation system.
“We look forward to receiving resident input for the first ever park system strategic. We hope to hear from
residents about what they like and value about what we currently offer in the parks, but also want to hear
about what they feel we’re missing and would like to see in our park system in the next 5 to 20 years,” said
Parks & Recreation Director Ann Kattreh. “Resident input is critical!”
Edina residents will have several opportunities to get involved in the master planning process. To stay updated
