Edina, Minn., April 4, 2019 – Take on the Step To It Challenge, a free four-week physical activity
challenge and friendly competition among local communities.
This is Edina’s first year competing in the challenge in which residents, schools, neighbors, families
and friends sign up, record their activities and compete for prizes, including tickets to Minnesota
Twins games, T-shirts and more.
Participants don’t need to start a new activity. Many things people already do count as steps, from
pickleball and tai chi to gardening or washing a car by hand. Or start a new activity or two to earn
more points.
Participants use a handy chart to convert their activities into points and track them. The winning
communities, schools and individuals receive awards. Other participating cities this year include
Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Hopkins, Richfield and St. Louis Park.
Anyone who lives or works in Edina is encouraged to join the Edina team. People of all ages and
abilities are welcome.
“No matter who you are, we want you to join us,” said Recreation Supervisor Nicole Gorman. “It’s
a quick and easy way to help you become a healthier and happier person.”
Sign up now at StepToIT.org or learn more at EdinaMN.gov/StepToIt. The Step To It Challenge
begins May 1.
