Abstract Painter, Minnesota Artists Show at Edina Art Center
Edina, Minn., April 24, 2019 – An abstract painter who uses the pigments of nature itself in her
work and the spring exhibition from Minnesota’s original art organization are featured at the Edina
Art Center through May.
Emily Donovan forages plant material and pigments from nature, then fuses them into her work. In
creating her own colors, she explores the symbiotic relationship between people and the
environment. The exhibit in the Tea Room Gallery is as much about Donovan’s process of capturing
the pigments as the resulting artwork.
“My process creates a living mark, as pigments find a new life and continue to grow within my
paintings,” Donovan says.
The Margaret Foss Gallery features the paintings, drawings and photography of 50 members of the
Minnesota Artists Association. The organization, founded in 1937, has members working in all media.
Both exhibits are on display through May 30. Admission to the galleries and parking is free. The
Edina Art Center, 4701 W. 64th St., is open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and
9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday.
