Edina, Minn., May 29, 2019 – A mixed-media artist who incorporates a collection of miniature stories surrounding images and a dynamic duo who use digital tools to create vivid pictures
are featured at the Edina Art Center this summer.
Joseph Haid constructs a thoughtful frame of juxtaposing materials such as metal, plastic and wooden components, found objects, pop-culture objects and more around his images to push
the boundaries of single-imagery perceptions. Exhibited both in the Margaret Foss Gallery and Tea Room Gallery, his work comprises patterns, shapes, forms, color and texture in a playful
context.
“What I want the viewer to be able to notice and experience in my artwork is that a single image can also work on multiple layers of understanding,” Haid explains.
Dee Kotaska and Gail Gates ingeniously mesh digital art and traditional photography to create fascinating and unique images in their work that push the boundaries of photography, illustrating
the limitless possibilities available with digital technology in their “Digital Mischief” show, displayed in the Tea Room Gallery.
Both exhibits are on display through August 7, with a reception being held June 13 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Admission to the galleries and parking is free. The Edina Art Center, 4701 W.
64th St., is open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday.
