FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Walk With the Mayor Scheduled for May 18
Edina, Minn., May 2, 2019 – The May Walk With the Mayor is scheduled for 9-10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Centennial Lakes Park, Hughes Pavilion, 7499 France Ave. S.
“The pedestrian bridges are being finalized this month at Centennial Lakes Park. The park is always beautiful in the spring and the new bridges will be iconic,” said Mayor Jim Hovland.
“In addition to maintaining the look of these popular bridges, the update has also allowed us to make them ADA compliant and stroller friendly.”
Centennial Lakes Park Assistant Manager Laura Knollmaier will also attend the walk to answer any questions and guide the group on the walk.
Participating in the Walk with the Mayor gives community members a chance to voice concerns, share opinions and thoughts as well as just talk with Hovland while getting to know the city
a little bit better. No prior registration is required to attend Walk With the Mayor; simply show up at the designated meeting time to walk and talk with Mayor Hovland.
Summer walks during the months of June, July and August will be held during the week to accommodate busy weekend schedules. Upcoming walks include:
6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, Bredesen Park
6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, Braemar Golf Course
Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes. In the event of inclement weather, the walk will be held at Southdale Center. For more information or to suggest a location for a
