Parade and Fireworks Highlight July 4 in Edina
Edina, Minn., June 18, 2019 – The annual Fourth of July Parade will celebrate Edina High School hockey and kick off a daylong celebration of America’s independence.
The hour-long parade, featuring animals, floats, fire trucks and marching bands along with local businesses and organizations, starts at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4, behind City Hall, 4801
W. 50th St. The route heads down West 50th, ending at Halifax Avenue in downtown Edina.
This year’s grand marshals will be players from both the boys and girls Edina Hornets hockey teams. Both won state titles in 2019.
An estimated 20,000 people view the parade. Parade viewers are allowed to set up chairs or blankets in advance of the parade, but are asked to avoid blocking sidewalks. Bleachers near
City Hall offer seating, and an emcee in that area announces each parade entry.
Those who are unable to attend the parade can watch it via Facebook Live. Check the City of Edina’s Facebook page at the parade start for the broadcast link.
Continuing a tradition started in 1970, the First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band will play a special July 4 concert starting at 8:30 p.m. at Rosland Park, 4300 W. 66th St. Fireworks
over the park will follow, around 10 p.m.
The Independence Day events are presented by the Edina Community Foundation. Fairview Southdale Hospital sponsors the fireworks. Learn more about the parade, lineup, sponsors and more

Centennial Lakes Park, 7499 France Ave. S., will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 4 for paddle boats, lawn games and rounds on its putting course. Details are at CentennialLakesPark.com.
The new Championship 18 Course, Academy 9 Par 3 Course and Driving Range at Braemar Golf Course, 6364 John Harris Drive, will be open. Last tee times will be 3:30 p.m. Book a tee time
at BraemarGolf.com.
The Edina Aquatic Center, 4300 W. 66th St., will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 4 for cooling off and splashing around. Information is at EdinaAquaticCenter.com.
Edina Liquor stores will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 4 with delivery available 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Most City offices, including City Hall, will be closed July 4 and 5. The Edina Senior Center also will be closed those days. Though the buildings will be closed to the public, July 5
is a work day for City employees. Those who do not work must take paid leave.
