The event will feature music, food, dancing, games, arts and other activities. West 50th Street between Wooddale Avenue in Edina and Chowen Avenue in Minneapolis will close to vehicular traffic, as will France Avenue from Market Street to 51st Street for the fifth-annual event. The closures start at 11 a.m., and the roads should reopen by 6 p.m. The 50th & France Business & Professional Association and the City of Edina invite people to get outside, be active and connect with neighbors during the event. Learn about local businesses, artisans, civic, neighborhood and athletic associations at booths and events along the route. “Families should take advantage of this time to swing by the 50th & France area to enjoy the outdoors,” said Recreation Supervisor Nicole Gorman, who chairs the Open Streets on 50th Committee. “People will be able to enjoy good food, music and fun vendors set up along the streets. There is definitely something for everyone, even the family dog!” Many businesses in the area will be part of the celebration, offering sales or samples. Red Cow will host activities for kids and a beer garden for the adults. Local restaurants will offer food, plus food trucks will be parked at the event. Dogs and their owners won’t want to miss the Pet Zone on France just south of 50th. Listen to live music by the fountain on West 50th and to the a cappella groups from 3 to 5 p.m. at the intersection at 50th Street and France Avenue. Fun attractions include four bouncy houses, which will anchor the four corners along with three face painters at the event.
