Bauler retired Monday, Sept. 30, after over 36 years with the City. “I’ve seen a lot of changes over the years. We moved City Hall; a library used to be where City Hall is now. I had a lot to do with the City Hall building exterior for a time, taking care of the grounds in the winter and things like that. And then, of course, moving the Public Works shop about 10 years ago was a big undertaking,” he said. Bauler first began his career with the City in 1983 when he was 19 years old. He took a part-time role at Braemar Arena. Not long after, he took another position working at the condos that now overlook Edinborough Park. He was there for the grand opening of Edinborough Park in 1987 and saw Centennial Lakes as it was just being developed. After a few years of working 12-hour days, he decided to look for one full-time job with the City. He found his role with the Public Works Department and, as he puts it, the rest is history. “I’ll miss the camaraderie of the guys. Something might come up at home and you need a favor and it doesn’t matter what it was, but there is someone at the shop who knows how to take care of it. I’ve really enjoyed my time here; the people are great,” he added. Bauler has lots to look forward to, but he knows he’ll miss the people. “Scott did his best to make sure that the Public Works & Parks Maintenance Facility was clean and presentable to the public,” said Public Works Director Brian Olson. “Scott’s positive attitude at work will not be forgotten.” For more information about City staffing, contact the Human Resources Department at 952-826-0406. -30-
