FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Human Rights & Relations Commission
Working Group Seeks New Members
Edina, Minn., Oct. 31, 2019– The Human Rights & Relations Commission (HRRC) seeks interested members for the Days of Remembrance Working Group. This working group will develop a theme
and agenda for this event, identify presenters, schedule the day and venue, help to publicize, and assist with event logistics, including securing refreshments and room set-up /clean-up.
The Days of Remembrance is a free event that provides an opportunity for the community to remember and honor victims of the Holocaust and genocides, and to share experiences of survivors
of the Holocaust and other genocides. The event serves to educate us on how the Holocaust and genocide impacts the lives of survivors and affects us as a community, and what we can
do to make a difference on these issues.
“Next year, 2020, will be our 10th anniversary of the Days of Remembrance event. It’s also the 50th anniversary of the founding of the HRRC. Those are two significant milestones and
we want to acknowledge that in our Days of Remembrance program,” said HRRC Member Pat Arseneault. “We’re looking for volunteers who will help design and promote a program that will
bring greater awareness of events such as the Holocaust and other genocides. We’re looking for community input on what programming would speak to you to get you engaged.”
The Working Group will consist of three to four members, in addition to Human Rights & Relations Commissioners, and is open to any interested residents. Members can expect a time commitment
of two to four hours per month, with the commitment ending in May. Interested candidates can apply online at edinamn.gov/DOR-Work-Group. Applications are due Friday, Nov. 22.
