In addition, some yard waste pickup has been delayed. Recycling truck drivers will no longer be allowed to leave the cab of their truck, so they will not be able to pick up any recycling left outside of carts, such as cardboard from shipping boxes. All items should be broken down so they fit in the recycling cart. Residents who need a second cart may request one by calling 952-941-5174 or 952-826-0463. This measure will be in effect until further notice. “We understand this may inconvenience some residents, but our hauler, Republic Services, is trying to keep drivers safe and reduce chances of exposure,” said Environmental Health Specialist Solvei Wilmot. “Protecting drivers also helps keep recycling pickups on regular schedules.” Residents who have yard waste pickup should contact their hauler. Some haulers have delayed the start of spring pickup due to coronavirus concerns. Yard waste cannot be placed in trash, by state law. Residents with yard waste that isn’t currently being collected by a hauler should store it properly in their yard or take it to one of these sites that accept yard waste: SKB Malcolm Avenue Transfer Station, 630 Malcolm Ave. S, Minneapolis. Hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Call 612-331-4610 for fees or other information. The Mulch Store with locations in Burnsville (952-890-9375), Minnetrista (952-446-1056) and Shakopee (952-445-2139). Call or visit mulchstoremn.com for hours and fees. Yard waste will not be accepted in the carts for the citywide organics program that is scheduled to start in May. For more information, contact Wilmot at swilmot@EdinaMN.gov or 952-826-0463. -30-
