Tim Walz to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Except where necessary to support those services defined in the Governor’s Stay-at-Home order, work on other regular public works and parks maintenance services and programs have been reduced to a minimal level of operations. Staff will continue to provide emergency and essential services. The essential services, which support the community’s health and safety, include providing clean, safe drinking water, ensuring public sewer systems and treatment, keeping streets and signals functioning properly for safe transportation, and supporting public safety in emergencies. Calls that require workers to enter residential homes unless it is an emergency have been suspended. When entering a home is required for response to an emergency such as lack of water or burst water meter, staff will wear protective equipment like masks, gloves and goggles. Meanwhile, mowing of medians and other services have been suspended until further notice. Routine street sweeping has been discontinued, but crews are still sweeping in critical areas such as the streets seal-coated in 2019 and those streets that are directly adjacent to lakes and creeks. Non-emergency public works and park maintenance service requests can be submitted online at EdinaMN.gov/Edina311, by downloading and using the Edina311 app or leaving a message for staff at 952-826-0375. Non-emergency reports will be prioritized in the future when the facility has reopened and returned to full staffing. Minnesota’s Stay-at-Home order is currently in effect until April 10, but could be extended.
