FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
City Opens New Online Discussion on Bee Keeping
Edina, Minn., March 26, 2013 – As part of the year-long discussion series on www.SpeakUpEdina.org, the
City wants to learn more about what people think about residential bee keeping.
The following questions will be asked in the discussion:
Do you support residential bee keeping? Why or why not?
What types of limitations (number of hives, location of hives, etc.) should be placed on those who
chose to keep bees?
Should a permit be required for residential bee keeping?
How should the City handle complaints and address potential health hazards, such as bee-related
allergies?
The discussion will only be available until April 30. Residents, business owners, visitors or anyone else is
encouraged to weigh in on the issue.
In March, the City gathered feedback on organized garbage hauling. Questions posed ranged from whether or
not residents preferred to choose their own garbage hauler or would like to see a City-held contract, what
concerns residents have and costs of City-contracted garbage hauling . The feedback from the discussion will
be compiled and presented to the Edina City Council on April 22.
