Edina Invites the Community to Attend Music in the Park
Edina, Minn., May 8, 2014 – The City of Edina Arts & Culture Commission will hold several concerts this
summer as part of a new series called Music in the Park. Concerts will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Rosland
Park, 4300 W. 66th St., just off of Minnesota Highway 62. There will be a July 4 concert at 8:30 p.m., before
the fireworks.
Concerts include:
June 13: Michael Monroe, 6 p.m.
July 4: First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band, 8:30 p.m.
July 18: Patty Peterson, 6 p.m.
Aug. 1: Edina Music All-Stars, 6 p.m.
“These are Minnesota mainstays and we’re really lucky to get them in our own backyard,” said Arts & Culture
Commissioner Paul Peterson. “This is just the beginning. This is a first for Edina and we wanted to make sure
we did it right and with class. We did it the Edina way.”
This is the inaugural Music in the Park series, but Edina Art Center General Manager Michael Frey, who serves
as staff liaison to the Arts & Culture Commission, hopes it continues to grow.
“[This is] brand new for the City; we’ve never had this sort of music festival before. It’s a big deal,” said Frey.
“We hope to have many more in the future.”
Concerts are free and open to the public. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic
baskets to make themselves comfortable as they listen to the musicians.
