Edina HRRC Looking for Volunteers to Lead Community
Conversations
Edina, Minn., June 19, 2014 – The City of Edina Human Rights & Relations Commission (HRRC) is
looking for volunteers to serve as facilitators at six upcoming Community Conversations to be held this fall.
Volunteers will need to attend three two-hour training meetings over the course of the summer and help
facilitate three Community Conversations beginning in October. The Community Conversation will help
identify areas where Edina succeeds as a supportive community, as well as areas in which the City could
improve. Attendees from diverse economic, racial and social backgrounds will be encouraged to attend. The
information gathered from these Conversations will be summarized and presented to the HRRC.
“Edina is committed to providing a welcoming community where everyone can thrive,” explained Arnie
Bigbee, Co-Chair of the HRRC’s Community Outreach Workgroup. “We want to hear about individual, legal,
political, societal and cultural experiences. [We hope to] build a better Edina that promotes and encourages
positive change.”
To learn more or to express interest, contact Bigbee at arnieb1@me.com or 612-804-4660. Interested
volunteers should submit an application at www.EdinaMN.gov/advisory-boards-commissions.
