FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August Music in the Park will Feature Ticket to Brasil
Edina, Minn., July 24, 2014 – The City of Edina’s Arts & Culture Commission has held several concerts this
summer as part of a series called Music in the Park. The season finale will be held Friday, Aug. 1, featuring
Ticket to Brasil. The concert will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Rosland Park, 4300 W. 66th St.
Ticket to Brasil is a bossa nova, samba and afro-Brazilian jazz fusion project. The Twin Cities-based group was
founded in 1998 by classical and contemporary jazz guitarist and composer Pavel Jany. The ensemble has
released four albums and has performed at a number of local and international events. Ticket To Brasil has
opened for renowned artists, including four-time Grammy nominee jazz vocalist Karrin Allyson and Brazilian
singer Cibelle.
Ticket to Brasil will perform at the Music in the Park concert as a quintet ensemble, featuring brazilian vocalist
Natania Kamin, local jazz pianist Chris Lomheim bass player David Martin and drummer Bill Paul.
“We like to share the bossa nova and Latin ensemble [with new] audiences. … We [are excited] to introduce
our band to an Edina audience, those that are familiar with Latin music as well as those who are not familiar
with this type of music,” explained Jany. “It’s going to be a family event and there is no admission -- just bring
your lawn chairs along!”
Concerts are free and open to the public. Past concerts have drawn between 200 and 300 attendees, so plan
to arrive early. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on during the concert.
