Edina Police Department Seeks New Reserve Officers
Edina, Minn., Aug. 21, 2014 – The Edina Police Department is currently accepting applications for Reserve
Officers.
The Edina Police Reserves are a team of volunteer officers who donate their time and effort to the City and
the community in a variety of roles to assist the Police Department.
“Reserve Officers are an integral part of the Edina Police Department,” said Officer Darin Cizek. “They play a
very important role and we appreciate all that they do.”
The primary purpose of the Reserves is to assist the department whenever needed for any number of reasons
– day or night. This can include responding to severe weather conditions, serious car accidents, fire scenes,
lost or missing people, crime scenes, power outages or special details as needed by the Police Department.
Aside from patrolling one or two Friday or Saturday nights per month and attending monthly training
meetings, Reserve Officers are needed at events such as the Race for the Cure, Edina Art Fair, Night to Unite,
the 4th of July Parade, Junior Police and more.
All Reserve Officers are required to attend the Hennepin County Sheriff's Police Reserve School for 10 weeks
and must commit to a minimum of 10 hours per month.
