FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Braemar Golf Course Celebrates 50 Years with Several Golf Events
Edina, Minn., Sept. 11, 2014 – This season marks Braemar Golf Course’s 50th year in operation. The course
will host several anniversary events Sept. 25-27 to commemorate the milestone, including a “flashback” golf
tournament on Friday, Sept. 26.
The first tournament held at Braemar was a shoot-out golf tournament. Calling on that piece of Braemar
history, the course will hold a free Junior Shoot-Out Golf Tournament at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25. The
tournament is open to boys and girls ages 10 to 17. A barbeque dinner will follow the tournament.
The “Bellbottoms, Birdies and Beers” Golf Tournament will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26. This event is a
two-person team, Ryder Cup-style golf tournament. A casual dinner will follow with cash bar available.
Registration for dinner only is also available.
“We hope to see a lot of tie dye and bellbottoms on the course for this tournament,” said Braemar Golf
Course Facility Coordinator Mary Wooldridge. “We will incorporate fun facts and pieces of Braemar history
into this event. It’s going to be a lot of fun for long-time Braemar patrons as well as golfers just getting to know
the course and its history.”
This event is sponsored by area businesses and community members. Sponsorship opportunities are still
available. Contact Communications Coordinator Krystal Caron at 952-826-0347 or kcaron@EdinaMN.gov to
learn more.
The final anniversary event will be a Drive-In Movie night in the Braemar Golf Course parking lot at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 27. The movie “Caddyshack” will be shown under the stars. Attendees will be able to watch this
classic from their very own golf carts. Refreshments and treats will be available.
Visit www.BraemarGolf.com to register for either tournament. For more information, contact Wooldridge at
