FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Citizen Survey to Prioritize Future Parks & Recreation Projects
Edina, Minn., Sept. 4, 2014 – Many residents of Edina will receive a Comprehensive Community Needs
Assessment Survey in the mail this month. This survey is part of the park master planning process and will
provide further insight into the Fred Richards repurposing and Grandview projects.
The survey is being conducted by Leisure Vision/ETC Institute, the same company that worked with the Parks &
Recreation Department on the 2006 Needs Assessment Study. The survey will be mailed to 3,000 residents in
Edina the week of Sept. 8. The City asks residents to promptly complete and return the survey in the postage-
paid envelope. Completing the survey should take between 10 and 15 minutes.
The survey is being conducted at a cost of $23,650 and is being completed as part of the park master plan. A
report on the findings is expected to be presented at 7 p.m. Oct 20 in the Council Chambers of Edina City Hall,
4801 W. 50th St., and will be available online following that presentation.
“The results of this survey will help to guide the park master planning process. We plan to gain a good
understanding of what residents currently value in the park system, while also learning about unmet needs of
our residents,” said Parks & Recreation Director Ann Kattreh. “The survey will also ask questions about
desired amenities for Fred Richards Park and Grandview.”
