A review of the courthouse records indicates that the c( ficate of title for the above two lots (Certificate No. 463270) is ii name of one, Juliet H. Overholt. There are two deeds memorialized of certificate of title in favor of the Village of Edina, Document Nos. 916516 and 971154, Both contain language that reads as follows: The premises above described are hereby conveyed.soiely for street and public utility purposes and subject to conditions that if the grantee should use the land for other purpose or purposes or should it cease to be used for street or utility purposes the title shall then go back to the grantor. 1 ILLIAM E. The Village did not become full owner of these properties a d en- titled to a certificate of title because the deeds were restricted o "street and public utility purposes." Therefore, the Examiner of Titles co strued the deeds as mere grants of an easement and not evidence of a -fee title and therefore only memorialized them on Mrs. Overholt's certificate. I discussed this with Ward Lewis. The City's interests a e pro- tected, but Mrs, Overholt may desire to retain fee ownership.
