Construction Work Wraps Up in 50th & France Parking Ramps
Edina, Minn., Oct. 29, 2014 – Following several months of construction and renovation, work to improve
the public parking and streetscape in downtown Edina at 50th & France is nearly complete. The City will
celebrate the long-awaited accomplishment with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 13.
The City and property owners invested $5.8 million to rehabilitate the public parking ramps to make them
cleaner, brighter, safer and more convenient with the addition of new flooring, LED lighting, fresh paint and
preventative maintenance. A new electronic wayfinding sign system was also installed to help visitors find
available parking in the three ramps. Landscaping and other streetscape improvements were also made
throughout the District.
As part of a second phase, an elevator will be added to the South Ramp in 2015.
“Edina’s downtown at 50th & France competes with many other shopping destinations throughout the
metro,” said Economic Development Manager Bill Neuendorf. “These renovations and improvements position
50th & France to remain a highly popular and attractive destination for shopping and dining in a charming
neighborhood environment.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the improvements will be held 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 in the South
Ramp’s main entrance off 51st Street. Residents, business owners, employees and shoppers are encouraged to
attend.
